Budaya Kota dan Nilai Tradisi Masyarakat Indonesia pada Mobil Keluarga

Abstract


RESUME: Sarana transportasi merupakan salah satu penunjang utama keberlangsungan sebuah kota dan menjadi kunci penghubung seluruh titik yang ada di kota tersebut. Seluruh kondisi ini membentuk model sosial-budaya masyarakat yang utilitarian dan menempatkan mobil pribadi menjadi salah satu ikon penting dalam pertumbuhan kota itu sendiri. Di Indonesia, penjualan mobil yang diperuntukkan bagi keluarga, atau yang dikenal dengan MPV (Multipurpose Vehicle), selalu menempati posisi rata-rata tertinggi dibandingkan dengan jenis desain mobil lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi dan nilai keluarga dan penerapannya dalam sebuah mobil keluarga, serta menganalisa sampai sejauh mana pentingnya keberadaan nilai-nilai tersebut pada sebuah mobil keluarga. Metoda penelitian yang dilakukan adalah dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa simbol nilai keluarga menjadi hal yang lebih penting dan perlu direpresentasikan melalui mobil jenis MPV dibandingkan utilitasnya. Keluarga cenderung memiliki persepsi bahwa ruangan dalam mobil menunjukan posisi atau strata anggota keluarga. Selanjutnya, terdapat perbedaan antara aktivitas yang dilakukan saat bepergian dengan keluarga inti dan keluarga besar. Berbicara antar anggota keluarga terjadi saat penumpang berisi keluarga inti. Sebaliknya, saat mobil ditumpangi oleh keluarga besar, anggota keluarga banyak melakukan aktivitas dengan gadget atau alat komunikasi yang dimiliki.

ABSTRACT: “Urban Culture and Traditional Values of Indonesian Society towards the Family Car”. Means of transportation is one of the main sustainability supports of a city and the key connecting all points in the city. These conditions form the entire socio-cultural model of utilitarian society and put private cars into one of the important icons in the growth of the city. In Indonesia, family car design, known as MPV (Multipurpose Vehicle), always occupied the highest average sales rate as compared to the other types of automobile. This study aims to determine the perception and value of the family as well as their application in a family car, then, analyzing the extent to which the importance of these values in a family car. The method of the study is qualitative approach. The result shows that the symbol of family values becomes more important and needs to be represented through the MPV type car rather than utility. Families tend to have the perception that the space in the car indicates position or strata of the family members. Moreover, there is a difference in terms of the activities carried out on the go with the nuclear family and extended family. Conversation among family members occurs when the passengers are of the nuclear family. Conversely, when a car is boarded by a large family, many family members will do activities with their own gadgets/communication devices.
