Perbandingan Prestasi Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran dalam Kalangan Guru-guru Sains Sekolah Menengah Bandar dan Luar Bandar di Sabah, Malaysia

Abstract


IKHTISAR: Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membuat perbandingan prestasi pengajaran dan pembelajaran guru-guru Sains di sekolah menengah bandar dan luar bandar dari aspek perbezaan min yang signifikan mengikut subjek Sains yang diajar, jawatan, bahasa, dan pendekatan pengajaran dan pembelajaran bagi kategori sekolah menengah bandar dan luar bandar. Disamping itu juga, penyelidik mengkaji hubungan yang signifikan dan juga pengaruh antara umur dan pengalaman mengajar subjek major terhadap prestasi pengajaran dan pembelajaran guru-guru Sains. Keputusan ANOVA sehala menunjukkan terdapatnya perbezaan yang signifikan antara pendekatan pengajaran dan pembelajaran dengan prestasi pengajaran dan pembelajaran guru-guru Sains di sekolah menengah bandar. Keputusan Korelasi Pearson pula mendapati terdapat hubungan signifikan antara umur dengan prestasi pengajaran dan pembelajaran guru-guru Sains (r = .133, k < 0.05) dengan kekuatan korelasinya yang lemah. Dapatan yang sama diperolehi hubungan antara pengalaman mengajar subjek major dengan prestasi pengajaran dan pembelajaran (r = .140, k < 0.05). Selanjutnya, keputusan analisis Regresi Sehala mendapati terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara pengalaman mengajar subjek major dengan prestasi pengajaran dan pembelajaran guru-guru Sains [R2 (1.236) = .020, F = 4.858, k < 0.05].

ABSTRACT: “A Comparison of Teaching and Learning Performances among Urban and Rural Secondary School of Science Teachers in Sabah, Malaysia”. This research aims to compare the teaching and learning performance of urban and rural secondary school of Science teachers from the aspect of mean difference significance according to the Science subjects taught, position, language, and teaching and learning approaches for the category of urban school and rural school. Besides that, researchers also study the relationships which are significant and the effects of age and teaching experience of major subject to the teaching and learning performance of Science teachers. The result of one-way ANOVA showed that there was significant difference between teaching and learning approaches to teaching and learning performance of urban school Science teachers. The result of Pearson Correlation indicated that there was significant relation between age and teaching and learning performance of Science teachers (r = .133, k < 0.05) which was a weak correlation. Same output was obtained for the relation between teaching experience of major subject and performance of teaching and learning (r = .140, k < 0.05). Furthermore, the result of analysis of one-way Regression indicated that there was significant effect between teaching experience of major subject and teaching and learning performance of Science teachers [R2 (1.236) = .020, F = 4.858, k < 0.05].
