Hubungan antara Penggunaan Internet Bermasalah Umum dan Kesunyian dalam Kalangan Pelajar Sekolah Menengah

Abstract


IKHTISAR: Penggunaan internet perlu dikawal agar tidak menimbulkan masalah di masa hadapan, memandangkan penggunaan secara tidak terkawal akan menimbulkan pelbagai masalah dari segi akademik, sosial, dan psikologi. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti penggunaan internet bermasalah umum dalam kalangan pelajar sekolah menengah serta hubungannya dengan kesunyian. Seramai 260 orang pelajar tingkatan lima dari tiga buah sekolah dalam zon Keramat, Selangor, Malaysia terlibat. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa masalah terhadap penggunaan internet dalam kalangan pelajar ini berada pada tahap sederhana (Min = 2.71; SP = .651). Selain itu, tahap kesunyian pelajar juga berada pada tahap sederhana (Min = 2.72; SP = .372). Namun kajian juga mendapati terdapat hubungan positif yang rendah diperoleh antara penggunaan internet bermasalah umum dengan kesunyian (r = .182, p = 0.01). Kajian juga mendapati tidak terdapat perbezaan signifikan min masalah umum penggunaan internet bagi pelajar lelaki dengan pelajar perempuan. Kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa pelajar yang berhadapan dengan masalah penggunaan internet boleh mengimplikasikan kepada masalah kesunyian. Walaupun kesan ini adalah kecil, namun ibu bapa perlu memberi perhatian agar masalah berkenaan tidak berlarutan di masa hadapan.

ABSTRACT: “The Relationship between Common Problematic Internet Use and Loneliness among Students in Secondary School”. Using the internet should be controlled in order to prevent problems in the future, as the uncontrollable consumption will caused a variety of problems in terms of academic, social, and psychological. This study aims to identify problematic internet used among public high school students and its relationship to loneliness. A total 260 of five grade students from three schools in the zone of Keramat, Selangor, Malaysia were involved. The findings show that the problem of internet used among students at a moderate level (Mean = 2.71; SD = .651). Moreover, the level of students silence is moderate (Mean = 2.72; SD = .372). The study found a positive relationship between general problematic internet used to loneliness (r = .182, p = 0.01). The study also found that there was no significant difference in the mean of general problems using the internet for male and female students. This study shows that students who are dealing with this problem may imply the use of the internet to the problem of loneliness. Even though the effect is small, parents should pay attention to this problem to prevent any other related problems in the future.
